Welcome to South Coast RaILS!

South Coast RaILS are a new railway modelling group based in the New Forest area. We cater for enthusiasts working in the larger scales, such as O, Gauge 1, 16mm and 15mm. We run live steam, battery and two rail electric, and have recently introduced OO.

We have spacious facilities (see Our Facilities for details), and welcome modellers working in these gauges who lack space. All of our layouts are permanently erected, and will include scenic sections.

What's in a name?

Our full name is South Coast RaILS Group. The RaILS part stands for Railways In Larger Scales.

Group Aims

The primary aim of the South Coast RaILS Group is the construction, display and enjoyment of larger scale model rail layouts. The club plans to exhibit in larger scales at a variety of events (see Upcoming Events for details); the 15mm and 16mm sectors already hold regular steam-ups, with Gauge 1 starting in 2007.
